Siemens SOV ‘WINDEA La Cour’ receives Offshore Support Journal Award 2017


At the Annual Offshore Support Journal (OSJ) Conference in London Wednesday night the blue Siemens Service Operation Vessel (SOV) was recognized for its unique design concept. According to the jury, the specialized vessel, that started its service campaign at the 600MW Gemini offshore wind power plant in the Netherlands in September 2016, represents "a significant contribution to the development of the offshore renewables market during 2016". The ship is operated by Bernhard Schulte and was delivered in 2016 to be chartered out to Siemens Wind Power.

RTS Wind AG has been an ENERCON service partner for one year now

In the last year several RTS bases have emerged across Germany. The reason behind this is the growing network of RTS service teams, which inspect and maintain wind turbines on behalf of our customers. The teams use the bases as a point of entry and to store material and tools. A particular success for us is that we are one of the first providers who have been able to finalize a service framework contract with the manufacturing company ENERCON.

Prysmian UK to develop the land cable connections for the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm


Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cable systems industry, has secured a £ 27 million contract with East Anglia One Limited to supply and install the land cable connection for the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm.  Comprising of 102 turbines, the £ 2.5 billion wind farm will generate sufficient electricity to power 500,000 homes.

JBA Consulting signs re-seller agreement with the Met Office for metocean risk management software

JBA Consulting, the scientific and engineering consultancy firm, today announced that it has signed a reseller agreement with the Met Office.  The Met Office will now offer JBA’s metocean risk management software - ForeCoast® Marine - to its marine and offshore clients.

RTS Wind AG greets new UK managing director

At the beginning of 2017, Mr. Neil Parry took over the management of RTS Wind Ltd in the United Kingdom. He spent the first week in Germany at the headquarters of RTS Wind AG in Bremen, where he met the team and became familiar with the general structures of the company.

MHI Vestas launches 9 MW wind turbine

Today, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind unveiled its uprated 8 MW wind turbine, enabling its 8 MW platform to reach 9 MW at specific site conditions. The company’s prototype at Østerild broke the energy generation record for a commercially available offshore wind turbine on Thursday 1st December, producing 216,000 kWh (actual figures 215,999.1 kWh) over a 24 hour period.

VBMS awarded inter-array cabling contract for East Anglia ONE OWF

VBMS, a subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis), has been awarded a cabling contract with a value of approximately EUR 100 million by ScottishPower Renewables, for the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm. The scope of work for VBMS consists of the supply, installation and burial, as well as termination and testing of 102 66kV inter-array cables. The project execution will commence in the first quarter of 2019 with completion scheduled for mid-2020.

Acta Marine contracts Ulstein for wind vessel

Ulstein Verft AS has signed a contract for the building of a DP2 Construction Support Vessel (CSV) for the Netherlands based Acta Marine B.V. The vessel is primarily aimed at the offshore wind market and carries the new SX195 design from Ulstein Design & Solutions AS.

Hempel simplifies offshore asset maintenance with new coating range


Two new coatings, Hempadur Quattro XO 17820 and 17870, are being introduced to increase the service life and reduce on-station maintenance requirements of offshore assets by leading worldwide coatings supplier Hempel. The new high-performance pure epoxy uni-primers presented today (9 January), combine excellent corrosion protection with construction flexibility.
