Siemens receives major order from TenneT for DolWin6 offshore grid connection

Siemens has received another order from the German-Dutch grid operator, TenneT TSO, for a grid connection for offshore wind power plants in the German waters of the North Sea. The company will supply the entire technology for efficient direct-current transmission for the “DolWin6” grid connection. The Spanish partner, Dragados Offshore S.A., is a leading general contractor in the energy sector and is responsible for construction and offshore installation of the associated platform. The French supplier Nexans will supply the direct-current cables. TenneT tendered the supply and laying of the cables separately, and these services are therefore not part of Siemens’ scope of supply. The order placed with Siemens is valued in high three-digit millions euros range. After it is completed, DolWin6 will be able to transmit enough electricity to supply just under one million German homes. Commercial commissioning is scheduled for 2023.

London-based LOC carries out marine warranty surveying for Hornsea project one offshore wind farm

International marine and engineering consultancy LOC Renewables is carrying out marine warranty surveying (MWS) services on what will be the world’s biggest wind farm, DONG Energy’s Hornsea Project One. The site, which will consist of 174 turbines installed off the Yorkshire coast in the North Sea and deliver power to more than one million homes, is scheduled for commissioning in 2020.

SMST successfully installs TAB-M on Van Oord Aeolus

SMST’s Telescopic Access Bridge M Serie including flatrack and telescopic pedestal elevator system is successfully installed on Van Oord’s offshore installation vessel, Aeolus. The installation vessel Aeolus is working at the Walney Extension offshore wind farm in the UK.

A2SEA acquired by GeoSea

Today, DONG Energy and Siemens signed an agreement with Belgian GeoSea stating that GeoSea will acquire the full ownership of A2SEA. A2SEA will continue to operate out of Denmark with offshore wind turbine service and installation.

Siemens Gamesa to supply 752 MW to DONG Energy in the Netherlands

The Buss Orange Blue Terminal signed a contract with offshore wind farm constructor GeoSea N.V. for the handling and storage of the transition pieces for the fundamental structures of the Merkur wind farm. The Harbour project logistics manager and consultant will assume the project planning and project management. Buss Offshore Solutions and Buss Orange Blue Terminal will roll out the project from July 2017 to the estimated date of end of October 2017 at its North Sea terminal in the Dutch seaport of Eemshaven.

Innovation in world´s largest floating wind farm by Siemens Gamesa can open new offshore areas

Five Siemens Gamesa turbines of Six-Megawatt-class have now been installed on floating foundations in Stord, Norway. They form the 30 MW “Hywind Scotland” project, the world’s largest floating wind farm. The project was realised in strong collaboration between Siemens Gamesa and Norwegian company Statoil.

DEME’s subsidiary GeoSea to install offshore foundations for EnBW offshore wind farm Albatros

DEME Group’s offshore marine engineering subsidiary GeoSea announces today that, following successful completion of the design, it also received the Notice to Proceed for fabrication and offshore installation of 16 wind turbine foundations and 1 Offshore Transformer Module (OTM) for the EnBW Albatros offshore wind farm, for which GeoSea is Siemens’ EPCI partner. This partnership enables Siemens to provide a full-scope project (offshore wind turbines and OTM, incl. foundations) to EnBW.
