Scotland’s largest offshore wind farm reaches another milestone as 5,100 tonne jacket installed

Construction of the world’s deepest fixed bottom offshore wind farm, which is also Scotland’s largest, has reached another milestone with the installation of a jacket in preparation for the project’s offshore substation topside which is due to be installed in early 2022.

EEW SPC provides monopiles for Vattenfall’s Vesterhav project

Rostock-based company EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH has received an order from the Swedish energy group Vattenfall to produce 41 monopiles for the 344 MW offshore wind
farms Vesterhav. The contract was signed on 19 November 2021.

The first turbine jacket foundation has been installed at Seagreen – Scotland’s largest and the world’s deepest, fixed bottom offshore wind farm.

Temporis-backed Inis Offshore Wind launches with plans to develop at least 1GW of Irish offshore wind capacity by 2030

Temporis Investment Management (“Temporis”) has on October 11th announced the launch of Inis Offshore Wind, a new Irish renewable energy firm with plans to develop at least 1GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030. This would constitute a significant contribution to Ireland’s offshore wind targets and provide enough electricity to power over 800,000 homes.

Scottish Enterprise has appointed global energy consultancy Xodus Group to the role of Offshore Wind Cluster Builder to develop and grow the offshore wind supply chain across Scotland.

Dogger Bank reveals world-first in HVDC offshore platforms, slashing topside weight by 70%

The German wind turbine manufacturer Enercon will in future rely on cutting-edge technology made in Germany. From March 2021 on, Enercon will be the first wind turbine manufacturer worldwide to use six completely emission-free rotor blade lifters from the specialist provider ematec AG from Memmingerberg (Bavaria).

RWE chooses Van Oord for foundations and array cables at Sofia Offshore Wind Farm

RWE, the world’s number two in offshore wind, has advanced the development of Sofia Offshore Wind Farm. The company has selected the international marine contractor Van Oord as the preferred supplier for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the monopile foundations and array cables, for one of the world’s largest offshore wind projects.
