RWE, the world’s number two in offshore wind, has advanced the development of Sofia Offshore Wind Farm. The company has selected the international marine contractor Van Oord as the preferred supplier for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the monopile foundations and array cables, for one of the world’s largest offshore wind projects.

EnBW and aerodyn test model for floating wind turbines for first time in Germany

Two wind turbines on a precast concrete floating platform: that, basically, is Nezzy2. This 18 metre tall, 1:10-scale prototype is being tested by EnBW and aerodyn engineering, a north German engineering company, in a flooded gravel pit near Bremerhaven. Next, this summer, Nezzy2 is to prove itself in wind and wave conditions in the Baltic Sea.

Service for EnBW Baltic 2 to be provided from Danish port of Klintholm

One of Germany’s largest offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea, EnBW Baltic 2, is to be serviced from August 2020 from the Danish port of Klintholm on the island of Møn. Until now, the company’s service team – up to 25 in number – have travelled from Rostock to a hotel vessel close to the wind farm.

All 31 monopile foundation turbines are installed at our offshorewind farm Deutsche Bucht. The remaining 2 turbines will be erected on Mono Bucket foundations. Last month, the first turbine began delivering power to the German grid. Commissioning of the 8.4 MW turbines is ongoing.

Dutch offshore contractor Heerema has been assigned to help build the first and largest commercial offshore wind farm in the United States. The prestigious 'Vineyard Wind LLC' project is the nation's first utility-scale offshore wind energy project. Situated 14 miles off the coast of Massachusetts, this project will generate clean, renewable, cost-competitive energy for over 400,000 homes and businesses, while reducing carbon emissions by over 1.6 million tons per year.
