Borkum Riffgrund 1 - The emergence


End of May, the last turbine was built up and in October Dong Energy celebrated the opening of its first offshore wind farm in Germany: Borkum Riffgrund 1. A video shows how the offshore wind park has been created in the North Sea during recent years.

Isleburn to build suction anchors for floating wind farm

Statoil have awarded Isleburn with a contract for the provision of the suction anchors to the world’s first floating wind farm: The Hywind pilot park offshore Peterhead in Aberdeenshire.

Ambau is manufacturing the towers and foundations for Nordergründe


Ambau is constructing the towers for the Nordergründe offshore wind farm. In addition to the tower segments, Ambau is also manufacturing the transition pieces and monopiles for the project, making this the first time that the company will be supplying the complete steel structures below the nacelles for a wind farm.

25 MW floating project planned in Portugal

EDP Renewables, Mitsubishi Corp., Chiyoda Corp., ENGIE and Repsol create a consortium to implement a floating offshore wind farm in Portugal using Principle Power’s WindFloat Technology. The project will comprise a total capacity of 25 MW.

Enbridge acquires 24.9 % interest in Rampion

Canadian pipeline firm Enbridge announced the acquisition of a 24.9 % interest in the 400 MW Rampion offshore wind project in the UK. The company’s total investment in the project is expected to be € 520 million inclusive of all interest during construction, transaction costs and a development fee.

RWE Innogy has announced three new project partners for Galloper Wind Farm Ltd (GWFL). Green Investment Bank (GIB), Siemens Financial Services and Macquarie Capital, join RWE Innogy in becoming 25 % joint equity partners of the 336 MW Galloper Offshore wind project. The debt financing for GWFL was also closed.

Alstom completes commissioning of offshore substation

Alstom has completed the commissioning of the AC offshore substation for the German offshore wind farm EnBW Baltic 2. EnBW Baltic 2 is Germany’s second offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.

VBMS awarded cabling contracts for Galloper

VBMS has been awarded two contracts with a total value of approximately € 200 million by Galloper Wind Farm Ltd., a joint venture between RWE Innogy UK, Siemens Finance and Green Investment Bank, for the Galloper Offshore Wind Farm.

Siemens will supply Galloper offshore wind farm with 56 turbines of its 6 MW class. The 336 MW project is in co-ownership of RWE, UK Green Investment Bank, Macquarie Capital and Siemens Financial Services.

The Danish Energy Agency has prequalified a total of seven companies and consortia to participate in the tender of Denmark's largest offshore wind farm Kriegers Flak, totalling 600 MW.
