8.2 Consulting AG has successfully completed the technical due diligence for Trianel Windpark Borkum 2

Zurich utility EWZ together with Swiss asset manager Fontavis has bought a 24,5% stake in the 200 MW TWB2 offshore wind farm in the North Sea. EWZ will finance the purchase via a 187,5 Mio.  €  framework credit approved by the Zurich municipal council. The offshore wind farm could provide power for 39,000 Zurich households (105 GWh per year).

Trianel Windpark Borkum II comprising 32 Senvion 6.2M152 turbines with a total capacity of about 200 MW is located 45km north of the island of Borkum in the German North Sea, close to the already operational 200MW Trianel Borkum 1 wind farm. The offshore installation of the wind farm is planned for the beginning of 2018.”

The first of a number of transformers that will enable the transmission of renewable energy from the world’s largest offshore wind farm has been delivered. On 18 February 2022, the first monopile for the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm was completed. The pile weighs 1,363 tonnes with a diameter of 9 metres. Baltic Eagle is already the second wind farm project of the Spanish energy company Iberdrola in the German Baltic Sea.

Construction of the world’s deepest fixed bottom offshore wind farm, which is also Scotland’s largest, has reached another milestone with the installation of a jacket in preparation for the project’s offshore substation topside which is due to be installed in early 2022.

Cadeler A/S, a key supplier within the offshore wind industry, has signed a firm contract with Siemens Gamesa to provide the transportation and installation of a total of 60 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbines (WTGs) for the Moray West offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland. This will be the first time that these 14MW offshore wind turbines will be installed on a commercial scale.
