BMT Nigel takes over a new high speed service vessel

BMT Nigel Gee announced the delivery of the offshore service vessel Sure Diamond. According to the company it is the first ever UK flagged vessel to be certified under the Interim Code for High Speed Offshore Service Craft.

Under the new Interim Code for High Speed Offshore Service Craft (HS-OSC) which was released by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) in September 2015, the vessel Sure Diamond can carry up to 12 passengers and a further 12 offshore personnel in addition to the ship’s crew. The vessel also has a certificate of compliance with the new German Code for Offshore Service Craft which was released in December 2014.

Sure Diamond is a 26 m StratCAT build by Strategic Marine in Vietnam. It is powered by MAN D2862 Engines with a Servogear Controllable Pitch propulsion system. A second StratCAT 26 vessel, Sure Dynamic, has completed sea trials in Vietnam and is being shipped to the UK along with a further 24 technician Quad IPS StratCAT 26 for Opielok Offshore Carriers. Both vessels are designed by BMT and built by Strategic Marine.

From offshore oil and gas to offshore wind

Farstad, Volstad and Kleven are combining forces to establish the ship-owning company Norwind Offshore. The company will offer specialised vessels designed specifically for advanced maritime operations in the development and service of the offshore wind sector. Norwind Offshore has entered into a contract with Vard for the delivery of three vessels by 2024 - with options for two more vessels in 2025. The first vessel is due to be delivered in 2022.

Heavy Lift Crane ready to work
