High Wind tested the Boom Lock system with a 6MW Senvion wind turbine blade, proving the ability to keep it completely still in wind conditions of 15m/s average wind speed and gusts up to 20m/s. The test also proved the benefit of the intelligent guidance system on heavy loads like nacelles and towers.
Increasing the wind speed limits for offshore wind installation is in the top five of drivers which can help reduce the LCOE for offshore wind energy.

Following the receipt of equipment orders for four offshore wind service vessels announced in May 2020, MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has received an additional order for another two Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOV) that will further expand the Østensjø Rederi Edda Wind fleet.
The energy company Vattenfall has selected Dewesoft to provide the tower monitoring solution at what will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm.
The first of a number of transformers that will enable the transmission of renewable energy from the world’s largest offshore wind farm has been delivered. The transformers will play an integral role in the operation of three onshore convertor stations in East Riding of Yorkshire and on Teesside, that will eventually convert the current from the wind farm for transmission via the national grid network to 6 million UK homes.
Farstad, Volstad and Kleven are combining forces to establish the ship-owning company Norwind Offshore. The company will offer specialised vessels designed specifically for advanced maritime operations in the development and service of the offshore wind sector. Norwind Offshore has entered into a contract with Vard for the delivery of three vessels by 2024 - with options for two more vessels in 2025. The first vessel is due to be delivered in 2022.
